At the risk of revealing a thinly-veiled history of nerddom, I love fantasy and science fiction books. Back in college I went on a huge Stephen King kick and read nearly half the books he’d written. That’s saying something, since King cranks out books faster than a crackhead running from a child support payment. King’s magnum opus was his Dark Tower series
, which united several of his other stories into the same overarching, connected world.
When this “scary” piece of rusted machinery made the viral rounds through social media and picture sites a few weeks ago, the first thing I thought was “Blaine The Mono” from Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands. It’s a pretty interesting image, so I drew my own version.
I didn’t spend much time on this illustration, so I may expand on the concept at some point. Maybe a decayed horror version of Thomas The Tank Engine since your kids haven’t had enough nightmares lately. Anyway, check it out:
