This project involved conceptualizing a fictional beverage company, creating a logo and then creating a branded product line. I chose a vineyard, as wine labels offer plenty of room for creativity. At one point I was the assistant manager of a liquor store, so I have a solid idea of product packaging that will appeal to customer interests and generate sales.
Occult figure Anton LaVey is the inspiration for the fictional vineyard, allowing for a dark and mysterious brand – a perfect image for wine sales.
Each label features an illustrated woodcut style with various mysterious elements. The Esoteric label features an Ouija board planchette, while the Ten of Swords comes from a deck of tarot cards. The ancient symbol representing infinity, a serpent eating its own tail, is represented on the Ouroborous label.
The LaVey Vineyards logo is a slightly altered blackletter font, perfect for the atmosphere of the product line. Each label features a customized version of the same blackletter font as the logo, along with elements of the product itself.
The end result is an eye-catching product line that will appeal to many wine enthusiasts.
